Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria
Inclusion
- Smallest size fibroid is 3 cm
- Largest size fibroid is 10 cm
- Maximum depth 12 cm from skin
- Women age 18 years and older with symptomatic uterine
fibroids and who have completed their families
- Patient who is pre or peri-menopausal (within 12
months of last menstrual period)
- Fibroid(s) clearly visible on non-contrast MRI
Exclusion
- Women who are pregnant, as confirmed by serum test
at time of screening urine pregnancy test on day of
treatment
- Uterine size > 24 weeks as evaluated by US or
MR
- Hematocrit < 25
- Patients previously on GnRH agonist therapy within
the last 6 months
- Patients with pelvic mass outside the uterus suggesting
other disease process
- Patient weight < 250 pounds
- Individuals who are not able or willing to tolerate
the required prolonged stationary prone position during
treatment (approximately 3-4 hours)
- Patient with an intrauterine contraceptive device
anywhere in the treatment beam path
- Extensive abdominal scarring in the area of the abdomen
directly anterior to the treatment area
