Sonowave
SonoWave is another name for ExAblate™. It is the latest
technology designed to provide an alternative to invasive
surgery, such as a hysterectomy, in treating uterine
fibroids. This amazing technology combines MRI, for real
time viewing of the fibroids, with ultrasound heat to
destroy abnormal tissue. It is being used successfully
in treating leiomyomas, giving women relief from the
pain while leaving the uterus intact.
Beverly Tower Wilshire Advanced Imaging Center is one
of the few medical centers in the nation offering the
SonoWave option. Using the ExAblate™ 2000 System to destroy
uterine fibroids is the answer for women who prefer to
avoid an invasive surgical procedure with a long recovery
period. With SonoWave technology, the uterine fibroids
are destroyed, and you can usually resume normal activities
within a couple of days.
At this time, insurance does not pay for this procedure
even though the FDA has approved it to be performed.
You can pay for the procedure with cash, and we will
file an appeal to your insurance provider on your behalf.
